Research from Localis Data Company that utilises online accommodation bookings across Stayz, Airbnb, Booking.com and TripAdvisor show the following trends for the period of 1 January to 30 April 2026 for the whole Shoalhaven region. - Average occupancy levels for the Jan to April period of 2026 show a considerable increase of 26% year on year.
- Average booking window is slightly up but seems to be on par for this peak period, where guests are tending to book around 6 weeks out on average.
- Average daily rate is down year on year by around 10%. This shows operators have been adjusting their prices to meet demand, although their own costs have increased leading to less margins for operators.
- Easter peaks of around 80% occupancy are similar year on year, although the Easter period was earlier in 2026.
- January 2026 was consistently around 10% higher occupancy than 2025.

- The data looking forward to bookings made for the rest of the calendar year show a similar trend to the previous year.
- Peaks in may occur around events, and in June around the long weekend.
- 2026 forward bookings are slightly but not significantly below the status of 2026 with only 12% booked over the next 3 months at this point in time.
- May, June, July are Shoalhaven’s off-peak season. Previous years show the occupancy expectation for May and June is around 30% on average with the June long weekend peaking at around 55%.
