Almost 150 Australian tourism businesses have revisited their risk assessment planning, using the personalised risk assessment tool to ensure safety of their visitors and staff remains top priority with the end of the summer season and planning ahead.
The personalised risk assessment tool is part of a suite of ATIC programs and tools supported by the Australian Government, through Austrade’s Quality Tourism Framework Grant Program, to assist small, medium, and regional tourism businesses to enhance their quality, accessibility, and sustainability.
The Australian Government, through Austrade is providing $8M in funding to enhance ATICs suite of programs and to support tourism operators to develop their business.
The personalised risk assessment tool guides businesses through a simple three-step process of identifying risks, assessing the impact and likelihood of identified risks and developing mitigation strategies. Businesses are encouraged to undertake a regular review of their risk management plan and make updates where necessary to stay ahead of potential challenges.
In addition to the tool, businesses also have access to several case studies and the ‘Don’t Risk It’ manual which is designed to assist tourism businesses to prevent, respond and recover from a disaster.
