Connecting Seniors Grant Program – NSW Department of Communities and Justice

Grants available up to $30,000 across multiple streams

The program aims to build social connections and reduce isolation for older people, including those aged 65 years and over, or 50 years and over for Aboriginal people. It is open to not-for-profit organisations, associations, Local Aboriginal Land Councils, church groups and local councils. The objectives of the Connecting Seniors Grant Program are to:

  • Provide meaningful and lasting social connections
  • Help older people connect with each other in small group activities in person
  • Enable older people to develop lasting quality relationships
  • Engage new people, particularly harder-to-reach older people

Types of projects that have been funded in previous rounds include:

  • Wellness activities like fishing, weaving, singing, dancing, and language learning activities
  • Low impact sporting activities involving aged care facilities
  • Networking Aboriginal Elders from neighbouring communities to combat isolation
  • Developing and facilitating volunteer programs for seniors
  • Establishing a community meals program
  • Establishing close knit book clubs that tour age care facilities
