Export Market Development Grants (EMDG) – Austrade

The EMDG program is for eligible SMEs and representative bodies to undertake marketing and promotional activities or export training to create, develop, expand or diversify their products in foreign markets.

The Australian Government will provide $110 million to EMDG in the 2025-26 and 2026-27 financial year. The EMDG program is for eligible SMEs and representative bodies to undertake marketing and promotional activities or export training to create, develop, expand or diversify their products in foreign markets. The grant program is a matched funding program up to a maximum spend of $80,000. The delivery of marketing programs must take place over the next two years, starting 1 July 2025. The minimum grant for Tier 1 is $20,000.

EMDG provides grants for the following maturity levels:

  • Tier 1 – small and medium enterprises ready to export (beginner)
  • Tier 2 – small and medium enterprises exporting within existing markets (established)
  • Tier 3 – small and medium enterprises exporting to new key markets (established)
  • Representative bodies – that support small and medium business members to achieve export success (no minimum grant amount)

Grants range from $20,000 to $80,000, and Austrade could potentially issue around 2000 individual grants via this program. SMEs must have an eligible product.

Closing date is when all grant funding has been allocated.

Council is a member of the Shoalhaven Local Committee which supports in facilitating and administering the application process for grants in Category 1 across the city.

Grants available up to $250,000.
