Tourism Marketing Update – September 2025

It's been a big month for tourism with the launch of strategies, ongoing media coverage and inclusions and the return of the spring sunshine.

It’s been a big month for tourism with the launch of strategies, ongoing media coverage and inclusions and the return of the spring sunshine.

The NSW Visitor Economy Strategy 2035, which outlines clear goals and a roadmap to achieve them in the next 10 years, was launched in late August. It has big, bold targets to help businesses across the state thrive – you can read it all here.

Following this, our team here at Council has opened consultation for the Economic Development and Tourism Strategy 2035, which will help to shape the future of Shoalhaven. We’re asking for feedback from businesses and individuals alike, so encourage you to take a second to look through the documents and provide your feedback.

The South Coast has seen national acclaim at the Top Tourism Town Awards, with Huskisson taking out Silver in the Tiny Tourism Town (population under 1500) category and our neighbour Kiama claiming Bronze in the Top Tourism Town (population over 5000) category – congratulations!

The Shoalhaven region continues to shine across publications both print and digital, with recent articles on a multitude of platforms. The events calendar has been pumping, with festivals and foodie experiences as well as markets and artistic happenings, and it’s not slowing down anytime soon. The Go GRAND campaign wrapped up at the start of the month, garnering fantastic reach. The foodie campaign, Wine, Whales and Foodie Trails, is still in market and we’ll soon be transitioning into our summer offerings. We love to be tagged in socials (especially stories!) so that we can continue to share and keep across what you’re up to.

With school holidays quickly approaching, now’s the time to make sure that your offerings are clear and bookable, that your digital presence is accurate and up to date (website, socials, ATDW, and wherever else you find yourself online) and that you’ve taken a second to have a rest-and-recharge break.

As always, we’re here to help and support so if you’ve got new offerings that we should know about or simply have a question we might be able to answer please email us.
