Uptown Program: $792K funding received to put Shoalhaven night-time districts on the map

Congratulations to each of the Shoalhaven Uptown Precinct teams who were awarded funding in the recent Uptown grant announcement! Their dedication and hard work has been instrumental in unlocking new opportunities for our districts and driving positive change across the Shoalhaven.

For those who had not yet heard, the NSW Government’s successful night-time district grant support initiative, the Uptown program, has expanded to Wollongong, Illawarra and the Shoalhaven.

Across the state, thirty-seven precincts have received funding under the third round of the NSW Government’s $5.5 million Uptown Grant program.

From the Shoalhaven region, Berry Social, Huskisson’s Heart of Husky, Nowra Ignite and The Drive Sussex Inlet have all received up to $200,000 each in program funding.

This is the first time precincts in the Shoalhaven have participated in the program.

Now in its third round, the Uptown District Acceleration Program is a key element of the NSW Government’s 24-Hour Economy Strategy. A catalyst for change, it supports place-based collaboration, branding and storytelling within districts, and provides a platform for districts to innovate with reduced risk and ultimately become self-sustainable in the future.

The program is delivered in 2 phases. The capacity-building Uptown Accelerator Program, which features a series of workshops designed to help Districts build on their unique vision, and the Uptown Grant Program.

The Economic Development and Tourism team are excited about the energy this program is generating and the long-term impact it will have on our region’s economic and cultural vibrancy.
